Why ‘pinch of salt’ and how it came about…

Often people have asked me why I decided to call my blog ‘Pinch of Salt’. For me, the answer is pretty simple – salt is one of those basic ingredients you can’t do without and even if you’re baking a cake, adding a pinch of salt helps to cut through the sweetness and balance out all the flavours. 
And no, it wasn’t easy for me to zero in on this title, I’d a whole gamut of names – right from ‘amateur gourmet’ to ‘novice chef’ and even ‘from the frying pan’ popping up in my head. But I just decided to go with the easiest one, something that would be simple to remember and a term that was so basic that anybody could relate to it! So there you have it…
